Hair fashion news tends to move bottom-up with the street styles
setting the pace. In this report, information was gathered from top-notch hairdressers
fresh from their overseas travels to the three fashion capitals where they reported to the
major fashion magazines about the hair style trends from the street beat.
Their findings... In Paris, short, Mia Farrow cuts are happening. Often, they were gelled,
then raked over with a wide-toothed comb to create patterns or lines in the hair.
SHORT AND SEXY IN PARISThe
reports from Paris said that what really stood out there was a lot of very short hair. The mid-length
hair that was observed fell down and stopped in a straight line or had slightly jagged
ends. The ends in the US however are more ragged than those seen in Paris. There, the ends
were soft, and they were neither turned up nor under. Hair was straight and the cuts were
very clean. The reports also indicated that most of the mid-length hair didnt look
styled.

STRAIGHT & LONG IN MILAN
In Milan, the hair dressers saw Italians wearing their hair straight, mostly long
and with few bends. The bright reds continue from previous seasons.
It was reported that hair was classic in design, whether
the women were young or older. Some more mature women wore chunky, mid-length cuts,
layered out on the bottom or straight. Your hair dresser can create this look If he or she
has a light hand. Razoring is best for creating the look, but the key is to find the
groove of the hair.
What stood out most, regardless of age: Italian women put their looks together as a
complete package. Italian men are known for being more fashion-forward than men from many
other cosmopolitan areas and therefore tend to use more styling products.
THE MID LENGTH LOOK ABOVE
This mid-length shape combines shorter layers and looser textures with a
slightly offset, sweeping fringe that is adapted to the individual for maximum
versatility. The look was started off by adding a thickening cream (like KMS' Thickening
Creme) to the hair as a cutting lotion for increased volume in the finish. Styling
products incuded TIGI's Self Absorbed Shampoo and Conditioner, Creative Genius and Shine
Junkie. Hair, Makeup and Photography by the Toni & Guy Team.

NEO PUNK IN LONDON
Finally, between London and Ireland, the reports came in loud and clear... the neo punk
look has become
the dominant street style, and "chunk cutting via heavy pointing" is big, as are
less structured, "not so precise" looks with all the product you can use to get
and keep the look you're trying to accomplish.
THE LOOK ABOVE
Use Paul Mitchell Super Sculpt, power dry, using a medium metal round brush to execute
flip. Style with Paul Mitchell Volumizing Spray. Haircolor: Linkworks from Paul Mitchell;
Hair: Allyson Avalos (Cut); Lucy Doughty (Color); Makeup: Lisa Botts; Photography: Jenn
Kennedy.
For many women, texture was chunky but
flexible. That is primarily due to the new generation of styling products. Reports
condlude that the silhouette was fuller, almost heading toward a 50s glamor look. As
for the finish, it was shiny and touchable, reminiscent of the 80's. However, it was
unlike the real 80s, which had that frozen-hair quality.
Hair dresser correspondents report that razor-chopping, scissor-sliding, slicing and
twisting were all evident on the wild side of the street.
